Handmade Baklava filled with chocolate from Greece.
Baklava is a very popular traditional dessert in the Mediterranean and Middle East countries. It is made with phyllo pastry, nuts, fresh butter and sugar syrup. The main characteristic of baklava is its many layers of thin pastry sheets. The word phyllo used in the term phyllo pastry means “leaf” in the Greek language, showing that phyllo pastry sheets are as thin as leaves and when baked to perfection bring that crispy sound with every bite. Baklava is stuffed with chopped nuts, which can be either walnuts, pistachios, almonds, pine nuts, or any other nuts that can be found in Mediterranean and Middle East cuisine.
Baklava goes really well with Greek coffee (or any other coffee). You can also enjoy it as a snack during the day or as a proper dessert served after your main dish.
