Handmade traditional type of pasta from the Peloponnese region in the south west coast of Greece.
Durum wheat pasta is an important part of Mediterranean diet and in Greece there are over 46 kinds of traditional pasta that are used to prepare delicious and healthy dishes.
Saffron which is used as a coloring agent in food and is the world's most expensive spice, comes from the Kozani region in Greece and is recognized as some of the finest saffron in the world.
Greek saffron has a higher coloring strength than the minimum international standard for all saffron and is very popular in the Mediterranean diet.
According to Greek mythology, Crocus was a mortal youth who, because he was unhappy with his love affair with the beautiful nymph Smilax, was turned by the Greek gods into a beautiful purple crocus flower (saffron). Smilax is believed to have been given a similar fate and transformed into bindweed.
